Apple is one of the most popular technology companies around, being responsible for several products that completely revolutionized the way people thought of how a device should look and function.
Apple is responsible for the iPod and iTunes, for the very popular iPhone and the thinnest laptop around, the MacBook Air. Apple’s image is connected very tightly to its CEO, Steve Jobs, who is regarded as the man who basically put Apple on the market in 1997. Apple fans adore Steve Jobs and recently, they have been put in the position to think of an Apple without Steve Jobs.
Apple’s CEO is a pancreas cancer survivor, and lately he started missing out on a lot of public events, causing unease to his fans.
Steve Jobs has announced that his medical condition is more complex than he originally thought and that he will take 5 months off from leading Apple, in order to get healthy. In his absence, Chief Operating Officer, Tim Cook, will be responsible for the day -to-day operations.
There have been no details surrounding the exact medical condition of Jobs, but a 5 month leave during an economic crisis, might put Apple in a tough spot.
Already Apple shares took a hit, and this is mainly because Jobs is linked to Apple in a very tight way. Analysts, though, are confident that even without Steve Jobs, the company will do fine and that it will continue to put the entire focus on innovation and quality.
