Despite the fact that it was described by LucasArts as the link between the not-so-successful Episode III, Revenge of the Sith, and the grandiose Episode IV, A New Hope, the highly-expected video game ‘The Force Unleashed’ is seen by most reviewers as a disappointment.
However, as a story, the game is spot on. It’s really a great story, especially for a video game. The story is captivating and will surely keep you focused until the end of the game and the best thing about it is that it does it without any cheep efforts to try to make its self look cool. This will probably make you forgive some of the game’s clumsy flaws, but not all of them.
The story telling is aided by superb visuals which make sure that the plot is transmitted with maximum impact. The characters are just great. All of them just look alive and their in-game movement is not bad either.
However, as video game, ‘The Force Unleashed’ it’s not worth the money. It’s quite a standard game with a short action, few excitement moments and too many hiccups. It’s worth mentioning that it also has no multiplayer mode.
The visuals may be spectacular and the characters alive-looking, you will get to fly TIE Fighters and spread destruction through the galaxy, but one thing is certain – after you finish it (it takes about 8 hours), you won’t go for another round.
The story of the game is an account of what happened in the period between the prequel trilogy and the good movies. The game evolves around the character played by you – a trainee Sith named Starkiller. After your Jedi dad is killed by Vader, the dark lord kidnaps you and you agree that you must grow strong enough to help him kill the Emperor and rule the galaxy with him. So your training in using the dark force begins…
