“Star Wars: The Clone Wars” is a computer animated film and
no, Ewan McGregor will not play Obi-Wan Kenobi. The film was made so that it
would draw interest for an upcoming “Star Wars” television show on cable TV’s
TNT and Cartoon Network. It seems a project designed mostly for fans.
According to Reuters, director Dave Filoni, also a fan of
the movie, said that the story was not a sequel or a repeat of previous films that
came to an end in 2005 with “Star Wars: Episode III- Revenge of the Sith.”
“It's part of the story we know, but it's been in the
background until now,” said Dave Filoni.
The animated film focuses on the conflict between a Clone
army and separatist group led by Count Dooku. The action also follows Anakin
and Ahsoka on their first mission. Dave Filoni, who also worked on “Avatar: The
Last Airbender,” proves he was the best choice for this project as the
characters are very well contoured and many of their features were hand-painted.
There are some important actors who contributed to this new
animated movie: Samuel L. Jackson will provide the voice for Mace Windu,
Anthony Daniels for C-3PO and Christopher Lee will lend his voice to villain
Count Dooku.
The film and the TV shows will include “Star Wars” heroes
like Padme Amidala and new characters will be introduced: Anakin’s Padawan
apprentice, the teenager Ahsoka. These new projects will assure the long life
of Star Wars and fans will get the chance to see another approach of the movie.
