It's been two years since Star Jones abruptly departed from ABC's "The View," but the talk show host is still not over the way she was treated by her former co-hosts.
Star, who joined "The View" in 1997 as the first African-American co-host, unexpectedly left the show in 2006, surprising even Barbara Walters with her announcement. Jones has previously said she felt betrayed by Walters, but her words now are about all the women she worked with on the show.
In an interview for the latest issues of Essence magazine, Jones, who lost 160 pounds in 2003 as a result of gastric bypass surgery, said of her former co-hosts, Barbara Walters, Joy Behar and Elisabeth Hasselbeck, that they were “hateful.” Moreover, she claims that Barbara "set me up."
This is not the first time Jones spoke against Walters, who included her in her new memoir, "Audition." In the book, Walters claims Jones forced her to lie about her gastric bypass surgery on "The View," while Jones lied everyone to their faces claiming she lost all the weight by exercising and eating right, insinuating she was better than the gastric surgery she was speculated to have had.
Speaking of her former husband, Al Reynolds' infamous YouTube videos in which he tells the whole world he's still in love with her, Jones made little hateful statement of her own telling the mag all she had to say was "I'm not in love with him."
However, she admitted that she's ready to fall in love again, "I’m ready to love 24/7. I want happiness," said Jones, who was recently seen kissing chef Herb Wilson in the stands at the U.S. Open.
A friend of Jones told People.com that the couple's outing last weekend was their first time in public, and that the "new relationship," makes her very happy. Does this mean we may be able to look forward to another lavish, corporate sponsored wedding in the future?
The divorce between Jones and her husband of 3 1/2 years was finalized this September. Jones filed for divorce in March and even though she tried to keep it private, her ex hubby released a series of YouTube videos about their oft-scrutinized marriage last July, in which he claimed to still love Jones "very much."
Now that Jones is looking for happiness in her personal life, the 46-year-old is also in talks to make a non-scripted TV comeback. But it sure took her a while to reach this point, as she opened up about "falling into a depression" after losing her self-titled Court TV show last year. More or less responsible for her new positive attitude is the sense of renewal she says she gained after spending an "Under The Tuscan Sun"-style summer at an Italian villa with girlfriends, including Natalie Cole.
