Steven Spielberg, a three-time Academy Award winner, told the German magazine Focus that he decided to produce a movie involving United States’ 16th president, Abraham Lincoln.
The film producer, director and screenwriter will reportedly begin filming the movie early next year.
However, he is already involved in another project before filming the movie about Lincoln and the Civil War. Spielberg will begin shooting Tintin early this fall.
Spielberg, the highest grossing filmmaker of all time (his films made about $8 billion worldwide), will work on Tintin and the Lincoln movie at the same time for a while. The Lincoln project has a strong script by Tony Kushner, who also wrote the script for Angels in America ant did the final edits to the Munich screenplay.
Spielberg’s latest film, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, will play in theaters in 10 more days. The director already produced films set in 1936, 1944, 1957, 1972, even 2054. Now he’ll head all the way back to 1865 in the Civil War era.
According to initial reports, he had plans to direct The Trial of the Chicago 7 next, but apparently there were some problems with the script and the project didn’t went ahead as planned.
