According to the latest media reports, famous film director Steven Spielberg is on track to direct the first part of the "Tintin" DreamWorks trilogy. The news comes after Brussels' Herge Studios, which own the rights to the lovely comic strip character, said Tuesday that Peter Jackson will actually fill the director’s stool of the up-coming film.
However, the representatives of both film directors agreed on one thing - Jackson will direct the sequel and serve as a producer on the first part of the trilogy.
Spielberg will begin to work on the first “Tintin” movie after releasing "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull," this summer, a film which cashed in about $780 million in cinemas all over the world.
On the other hand, Peter Jackson is currently working to finalize postproduction on "The Lovely Bones" for DreamWorks/Paramount and will then move forward to co-write the two "Hobbit" movies for New Line and MGM.
The first movie of the “Tintin” trilogy will be adapted for two books “The Secret of the Unicorn” and “Red Rackham's Treasure”, both parts of the “Adventures of Tintin” series.
Thomas Sangster, the 18-year-old Britt who played in “Love Actually,” will play Tintin, while Andy Serkis (Gollum-Lord of the Rings and King Cong) will play Captain Haddock.
The Stephen Moffat-scripted movie will be animated with motion-capture animation technology similar to what producers used on “Polar Express.”
