Airline company Virgin Atlantic has made a deal with the Spice Girls to fly them all around the world for their “Return of the Spice Girls” world tour – for free.
The reunited group will hit Vancouver for their first performance, on Dec. 2, followed by Chicago, New York, London, Hong Kong and Sydney. With the exception of Vancouver and London, where the Spice Girls announced their arrival on December 2 and 15, the other dates of their upcoming tour will be revealed early next year.
The airline company deal signed by Simon Fuller, chief executive of 19 Entertainment and manager of the group, will allow the five Spice Girls, Melanie Chisholm, Melanie Brown, Emma Bunton, Victoria Beckham and Geri Halliwell to fly with Virgin Atlantic’s Upper Class Suite, which also includes an airport limo to their hotels and security service.
Richard Branson, president of Virgin Atlantic, said in a statement: “Virgin signed the Spice Girls 12 years ago and I got to know them at that time.”
He added: “So we are absolutely delighted to be working with the Spice Girls on their reunion tour and really pleased to have the honor of taking the girls out to LA for their rehearsals, but even more importantly bringing them back to the UK for the British leg of the tour.”
His record company was the one that released the debut song of the five girls in 1996, “Wannabe.”
Mel B is already in the U. S. as she participates on ABC’s hit show “Dancing with the Stars,” as well as Posh Spice, who moved to L.A. this summer with her soccer star husband, David Beckham, and their three children.
Baby Spice Emma arrived in LA this week, together with her newborn son Beau. “I can't wait to meet up with the girls again to catch up on gossip, giggles, shopping and the rehearsals,” she said.
