Putting and end to months of speculation, the Spice Girls announced a reunion world tour to promote a greatest-hits CD for EMI Group Plc.
Emma Bunton, Mel Brown, Mel Chisholm, Victoria Adams and Geri Halliwell aka Baby, Scary, Sporty, Posh and Ginger gathered together for a press conference at London's O2 Arena on June 28, for the first time in 9 years, and spoke about their reforming.
The ladies said their tour will kick off in Los Angeles on Dec. 7 and will move on to Las Vegas, New York, London, Cologne and Madrid that month. In January 2008, they will perform in Beijing, Hong Kong, Sydney, Cape Town and Buenos Aires.
Due to Emma Bunton’s pregnancy, the group won’t be performing at Sunday's memorial concert for the late Princess Diana in London.
"A girl is allowed to change her mind,'' said Chisholm at the press conference.
"All of us have had our fears and doubts but we feel that the time is right and we will have some fun and be together.''
"It was kind of `now -- or never,'' said Halliwell, sporting a long flower-print dress.
"Imagine you got divorced and you've got back together with your ex-husband," she quipped.
Since the band was born in 1994, they sold more than 50-million records worldwide and scored nine British number-one singles.
