Sony Electronics revealed the latest members of the Sony
Cyber-shot T-family, the DSC-T700 and the DSC-T77, equipped with 10.3
megapixels cameras, offering 4x optical zoom and memory to spare. The DSC-T700
comes with 4 GB of available memory and an optional Memory Stick media card,
while the DSC-T77 only comes with a Memory Stick media card.
Both cameras are products of the touchscreen era. While the
DSC-T700 offers a 3.5-inch diagonal LCD, DSC-T77 comes with a 3-inch LCD screen,
both featuring 16-by-9 aspect ratios. The LCD panel offers 210 pixel-per-inch
resolution, with high contrast and wide-angle viewing.
Both cameras are powered by Lithium Ion rechargeable
batteries and are among Sony’s thinnest cameras. DSC-T700 is just 0.6’’ thick,
but it has a lot of improvements from last year’s T70 model. Sony called the
T700 a “photo album in your pocket,” as it can store nearly 1,000
full-resolution or 40,000 VGA-quality photos.
Just like the DSC-T77, T700 is equipped with an updated
intelligent scene recognition technology, Smile Shutter and face detection
technologies with child and adult priority, as well as high sensitivity
shooting (up to ISO 3200), 11 scene modes and in-camera image management.
Both cameras have anti-blink function in portrait mode,
automatically taking two shots and choosing to record the image where the
subjects don’t have their eyes closed, and at the same time, warn if the
subjects have their eyes closed.
The cameras come with PMB portable software that allows
users to easily upload photos and videos to popular social networking sites
simply by using an Internet connection with any compatible PC via the supplied
USB cable.
“Sony is taking the lead in developing “intelligent” cameras
so that taking great pictures is an automatic function and not a complicated
process,” explained Phil Lubell, director of digital camera marketing at Sony
Electronics. “This is part of our effort to enhance the camera experience for
customers by offering new functionality.”
Sony said the DSC-T77 camera will be available in brown,
green, pink, black and silver as of late September, for approximately $300,
while the DSC-T700 will be available around the same period for about $400, and
it will come in gold, pink, dark gray and silver.
