Sony announced the upcoming release of its new slim, light
and elegant ultraportable VAIO, the TT series, which is the successor of the
VAIO TZ. The device presents the company’s progress and its constant struggle
to offer its clients top of the line products.
The series will consist of four models. The top of the line,
called VGN-TT190UBX, will present a 1.4GHz Intel SU9400 Core 2 Duo, 4GB of RAM
and dual 128GB SSDs in RAID setup. It will include a Blu-ray burner and HDMI
output. Due to the new building system using a lightweight carbon-fiber chassis,
it only weighs 2.87 pounds. All the four models feature a 11.1 inch LED screen
with XBRITE-DuraView running at 1366 × 768.
Aside from the VGN-TT190UBX, there will also be 3 other
models available: the VGN-TT190EIN (in gold), VGN-TT190EIR (in red)
and VGN-TT190NIB (in black), each with a 1.2GHz Core 2 Duo SU9300
processor, up to 4GB of RAM and up to 160GB of non-SSD 5,400rpm storage. Unlike
the top version, these three will be equipped with DVD writers. They will also
have WiFi, Bluetooth and ethernet across the board, two USB ports, VGA out, a
built-in webcam, Memory Stick and SD slots.
"This engineering marvel packs the power of HD
technology into an ultra-light, ultra-portable notebook," said Mike Abary,
senior vice president of VAIO product marketing at Sony Electronics.
The laptops will retail for about $2,000 and the high-end
version will reach $2,700. Even though the price is a bit high, the device is
expected to record a massive worldwide success.
