As mobile phones get bigger and more functional, notebooks get smaller and slicker than ever, if we look at Sony’s latest creation, a Vaio ultra-portable PC small enough to fit one’s pocket. The Vaio P Series Lifestyle PC was unveiled this week at the Consumer Electronics Show taking place in Las Vegas.
The incredibly light Vaio weighs less than 1.5 pounds, and is smaller and lighter than any other similar device on the market today. Not only that, but it also brings better performance than its competitors, and of course, a price to match that: $900.
The device, which includes an 8-inch widescreen and is less than 1-inch thick, will be available later this month, according to Sony’s announcement. If you’re wondering just what this ultra-light notebook can do, it has 3G capabilities (Verizon), GPS and Bluetooth.
This is obviously intended for users on the go, and more than that, it seems to address specifically to the feminine segment of notebook users. The Vaio P Series Lifestyle PC comes with Windows Vista pre-installed, and offers four hours of battery life.
Overall the Sony Vaio doesn’t seem bad at all, but some consumers said the looks are not enough and prefer to wait a bit before purchasing it, especially considering the problems Sony has had with some of the Vaio batteries.
