Sony Ericsson Launches Two New Walkman Phones

With iPhone launch just days ahead, Sony Ericsson has joined the touch-screen frenzy with its latest Walkman phones, W960 and W910.

Sony Ericsson W960 offers 8GB memory that can be used to store around 8000 songs. The customers will be able to organize their content for the W960 using Media Manager PRO. The phone also incorporates TrackID music recognition software, a useful tool that can be used to find out instantly the name of the artist, track and album.  If video is your choice, the phone supports video playback at 30 frames per second, which is the same as TV quality.

The W960 runs on the Symbian operating system with the UIQ 3.1 interface and support for ActiveSync; synchronization technology Windows Mobile device owners will be very familiar with.

Sony Ericsson W960 Walkman phone is UMTS 2100-GSM/GPRS 900/1800/1900 and will be available in Vinyl Black from Q4 2007.

The other Wlakman phone W910 offers another cool feature: Shake control. By using Shake control the customers can skip their music forward one track when the phone if it’s flicked one way and back if it’s flicked another. The Shake control can be used also in games.

The W910 Walkman phone will feature the latest version of the PlayNow mobile download service (PlayNow4.0). This gives the user instant access to an extensive catalogue of games, mastertones and music, including thousands of tracks from Sony BMG. W910 can be used to store up to 900 songs on its 1GB Memory Stick Micro provided.

Also, W910 offers SensMe, a completely new way to browse music. The technology creates playlists based on tempo and style rather than on artist or album. The unique visual shows each of your tracks as dots in a matrix, placed along a horizontal and vertical axis according to their attributes. This way the user can circle a group of tracks that match his mood to create a playlist, or simply select individual tunes as he wish.

The Sony Ericsson W910 Walkman phone will be available in either Hearty Red or Noble Black from Q4 2007. It will ship in the following network versions: W908c: GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 W910i: UMTS/HSDPA 2100-GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900
