Last week, Sony revealed a new wireless audio system that
will make people want to leave the headphones aside and start listening to
music all over the house from their iPod player.
With the help of the AIR-SA20PK S-AIR PLAY wireless audio
system, the music is transmitted from the iPod to up to 10 compact (two
AIR-SA15R supplied), plug-and-play receiver/speaker systems, making multi-room
listening easier than ever.
The system gives the possibility to listen to different
things on different speakers. The dual source, multi-zone capability allows the
S-AIR dock to send separate signals to each AIR-SA15R receiver/speaker, i.e.
people will be able to listen to one song in one room, and AM/FM radio station in
another room.
The composite audio/video out connection connects the dock
to a television to view video content from the iPod on a big screen. Furthermore,
the dock can be connected to a home theatre receiver to listen to stored music
through a home audio system.
The docking station and each Air-SA15R speaking system come
with wireless remote controls. In addition to that, the system comes with a
clock and alarm, as well as an LCD to track information. Although Is only
includes two speakers, customers can add optional AIR-SA15R wireless speakers.
The experience does sound like one of a kind; however, it
doesn’t come cheap. Sony’s AIR-SA20PK will cost around $400, while each of the
additional speakers will be priced at $129.99. Sony will begin selling the
AIR-SA20PK this September through its online stores, as well as select
retailers.
