Sony Apologizes About Qur’an References In LBP Music Track

Sony was forced to delay the release of one of the most anticipated games in recent period, LittleBigPlanet, after the review process revealed that one of the music tracks in the game contains two expressions that can be found in the Qur’an.

The company announced on a company blog they have initiated the necessary action to rectify the situation. “We sincerely apologize for any offense that this may have caused,” the company wrote.

LittleBigPlanet will begin shipping in North America on October 27, a few days later than the initial launch date. Media Molecule, who developed the game, said they are “shocked and dismayed” by the situation, “shellshocked and gutted.”

The developer said both MM and Sony took the matter very seriously, and that in just 12 hours after the issue was reported, they prepared an automatic day 0 patch, as well as a new disk image. However, at Sony’s decision, the existing disks had to be replaced, which resulted in a delay of the launch.

“We know that LBP will be something that you can enjoy for a long time to come, when all of this is forgotten and all that remains are thousands of incredible levels and creations to play, create and share,” MM said.

LittleBigPlanet is a highly anticipated game for PlayStation 3, which allows users to go though a number of levels, and explore different environments, inspired from real-life locations, while further advancing the story and unlocking new levels.

The game has already received a lot of positive remarks, and players are looking forward to trying out the exciting new platform that will allow them to interact with objects in the game, collect items or customize their own levels and characters.

The game was initially supposed to come out in early 2008, but Sony decided to delay it until fall. Starting early November, the game will make its debut in Europe, Middle East, Australia and New Zealand.
