A countdown webpage launched by Sony New Zealand reveals that on January 9, 2009, a new Vaio laptop would be introduced by the company, which promises to alter our views on notebooks forever.
Currently, no details concerning the new gadget have been given out via the site, but people are offered the option to register in order to receive information when the latter is to become available and also to enter a contest to win a Vaio.
Nevertheless, websites specializing in gadgets have come across a document filed by Sony to the United States Federal Communications Commission (FCC), focusing on Vaio-branded products.
It seems that the new laptop is approximately 9.5in wide and 4.5in deep, which makes it smaller than other devices of the like, and that it also has a clamshell design.
Moreover, the FCC filing reveals that the new Vaio runs the Windows operating system, with its features including Bluetooth, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, EVDO and HSPA.
The new gadget is expected to be unveiled on January 8, at the opening of the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, where Sony chairman and Chief Executing Officer (CEO) Sir Howard Stringer will be giving a keynote address.
Still, until then, everybody is bound to be left wondering what Sony would be pulling out of their hat and how the new Vaio would be living up to the „revolutionary” attribute.
