Sonic The Hedgehog Released For The iPod

This Tuesday, Sega of America made available the classical game Sonic the Hedgehog on iPod. The game is available through iTunes Store, at the price of $4.99.

This price will get you the full game along with the option to use the traditional Sonic music in the background, or your own iPod music if you prefer. You can buy it for yourself or as a gift for a friend who is an iPod user.

The game is compatible with the 3G iPod nano (with video), with all 5G iPods, and the iPod classic. It doesn’t support Blast Processing. You can play it one-handed by simply tapping right or left on your scroll wheel and you can jump when pressing the center button or you can opt for traditional two handed controls.

As Apple's iPod dominates the music download space, its presence in the gaming is fairly minimal. But now its gaming offer has further expanded with one of the most recognizable video game icons of the last 15 years: Sonic the Hedgehog.

It has been redesigned specifically for the iPod and will see international release, available on the 22 iTunes stores around the world.

Simon Jeffery, President of Sega of America expects that along with people that will buy Sonic on iTunes because they love and enjoy the game, there’s going to be a huge potential audience who hasn’t played the game yet.
