Hit singer Beyonce’s younger sister appeared Wednesday on
the Las Vegas
daytime FOX entertainment show "More" promoting her new album
entitled "Sol-Angel & The Hadley St. Dreams."
Since the closing of the Vegas branch of Jay-Z's club 40/40 had
recently become official, the news anchor asked Solange whether she could
mention the rap-singer, who happens to be Solange’s brother-in-law, during the
interview. Annoyed at the thought of being referred to as Beyonce’s sister (or
Jay Z’s sister-in-law), she impolitely called the anchor woman unprofessional.
Moreover, it is rumored that the team hired to promote the
singer’s album has not only prohibited media outlets from mentioning Beyonce’s
name, but has also “decreed” that all questions about Solange’s sibling are to
be off-limits.
The 5-time (in one night!) Grammy Award winner in 2004-
Beyonce, that is-seems to have it all: she has sold over 20 million albums
worldwide, starred in two big-screen movies-“The Pink Panther,” alongside Steve
Martin and “Dreamgirls,” opposite Academy Award winner Jennifer Hudson- and is
happily married, since April 4 this year, to rap star Jay-Z.
Solange Knowles made her debut in the music industry in 2001
when she appeared on Destiny's Child's 2001 holiday album “8 Days of
Christmas,” providing vocals for the tracks "Little Drummer Boy" and
"Proud Family." During the following years, she contributed songs for
Destiny's Child, Kelly Rowland, Michelle Williams, Trin-I-Tee 5:7 and her
sister.
On her blog HadleyStreetJournal.com, Solange made the
announcement that she would be releasing a series of mixtapes, of which the
first, called "I Can't Get Clearance..." includes the "F*** The
Industry (Signed Sincerly)" track, where she expresses her opinions about
the current state of the music industry.
As for her personal life, she married football player Daniel
Smith in February 2004 and on October 18, 2004, Solange gave birth to the
couple’s first child, Daniel Julez Smith Jr.
The couple has meanwhile divorced.
Nevertheless, she is still regarded as B’s baby sister and
little about Solange’s career has actually managed to spear the cone of
darkness cast upon her by the Beyonce’s shadow.
But do take heed: hell hath no fury like a younger sister
scorned.
