Softbank Announces The Price For Apple's New iPhone

One of Japan’s biggest mobile phone carriers, Softbank Corp., recently announced its plans to sell Apple Inc’s new iPhone for 23,040 yen ($214,6). The offer includes an unlimited data transfer usage and demands a two-year deal.

The monthly fee charged by the company will be of 7,280 yen which is significantly more than what Softbank usually charges for its services. The carrier’s average income per user is of about 4,300 yen and the expected sales of its new product will surely bring a big boost to its earnings.

The company’s officials expressed their firm beliefs that the new offer will attract many of their rivals’ clients, as they were already interested in Softbank’s lower prices and now, aside from the less amount of money spent, they will also receive a top-of-the-line mobile phone.

The 23,040 yen iPhone will be entry-level version, equipped with 8 Giga Bytes of memory and its high-end version with 16 Giga Bytes, will be available for 34,560 yen.

Softbank had a hard time winning Apple’s contract, as DoCoMo was also very interested in acquiring the rights to distribute the device. Even now, when the deal is set, DoCoMo announced that it hasn’t given up and that it is still searching for a way to turn the situation around.

The hype started earlier this month with Apple’s announcement about a new version of its iPhone, which managed to attract a massive interest from the media, the market players and customers.

Softbank Corp. is the third-biggest Japanese telecommunications media corporation, with several activities such as fixed-line telecommunications, broadband, technology services, finance, media, marketing and many more.
