He may have gloriously portrayed a ruthless mobster on HBO
series “The Sopranos” but James Gandolfini is really a romantic at heart, as
proven by his weekend wedding in Hawaii
to fiancée Deborah Lin.
James Gandolfini and fiancée Deborah Lin said their I Do’s
Saturday, Aug. 30, in her hometown of Honolulu,
Hawaii, reported People magazine
on its website, quoting a guest of the event.
The soon-to-be-married couple welcomed their closest friends
and family members in a very private ceremony, surrounded by white lilies and
rhododendrons at Central Union Church.
A harpist played the “Hawaiian Wedding Song” while the
bride, glowing in a white gown made of Italian lace, walked down the island to
her groom, handsome in a black tuxedo, the guest told People.
Michael Gandolfini, the actor’s 8-year-old from his first
marriage, was best man at the reception.
Gandolfini, 46, and Lin, a former model, 40, have been
engaged since late 2007. They made their first public appearance in March 2007,
when Gandolfini was accompanied by his loved one on the red carpet for the New York City premiere of
the second half of the final season of “The Sopranos.”
Saturday’s 20-minute nuptials were charmingly elegant,
guests told People.com and ended with “a nice big kiss at the end with both
hands on the cheeks” between the newlyweds. “They looked great,” the
enthusiastic source added.
The wedding ceremony was followed by an equally elegant
evening reception in a ballroom at a nearby resort, presided over by the happy
couple, both adorned with green leis around their necks.
No word on their honeymoon plans yet but one can only guess
that the happy couple decided to spend some more time on the beautiful island.
James Gandolfini became a household name several years ago,
when the much-acclaimed “The Sopranos” premiered on HBO. The role earned Gandolfini
multiple Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series, Screen
Actors Guild Awards and one Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Television Drama
Series over the years.
