Soap Actor Arrested after Fight

Another soap opera actor has found trouble with the law: this time, it’s Nathaniel Marston of “One Life to Live” who was arrested after a fight in New York City.

Nathaniel Marston, 32, allegedly attacked three men with a crate in the early hours of Sunday morning at 10th Avenue and 45th Street, according to a felony complaint filed in Manhattan Criminal Court, that the Associated Press had access to.

According to the complaint, Marston struck one man on the hand; another one he hit on the back of the man, causing bruising and swelling; the third one suffered a broken leg and required hospitalization, the AP reports.

The New York Daily News, first to report the incident, writes police said the actor appeared to be under the influence of narcotics, possibly cocaine, when they were called to the scene.

He resisted arrest, flailing his arms, refusing to be handcuffed. One of the police officers reportedly required medical treatment for a cut hand and a bruised knee.

Marston himself was treated at Bellevue Hospital Center for scrapes and bruises before his court appearance. He was allegedly labeled an “emotionally disturbed person” at the hospital, police sources told the Daily News.

Lauri Hogan, a spokeswoman for ABC, said, “We're aware of the incident and (are) reviewing its details.”

Marston was charged with four counts of second-degree assault, menacing, reckless endangerment and resisting arrest. He was released without bail by Judge John Catald, according to the Associated Press. His next court appearance is set for Feb. 4, 2008.

Marston plays Dr. Michael McBain on ABC’s “One Life to Live.” He previously played Eddie Silva on the CBS daytime soap opera “As the World Turns.”

According to the Daily News’ report, Marston has had anger-related problems before. He was arrested in October 1999 on criminal mischief charges, after hitting and damaging an automated-teller machine in Manhattan, police said.

Actor Sean Kanan, known for his roles on “General Hospital” and “The Bold and the Beautiful,” was arrested for drunk driving in LA in September. Fellow “General Hospital” cast member Kirsten Storms was also arrested for driving under the influence last month.
