Rapper Snoop Dogg is on his way to become the host of a new variety show and have songs from his upcoming album “Malice in Wonderland” included in the “Rock Band” videogame as part of a deal he signed with MTV.
According a press release sent out by MTV, the artist will make his appearance on your television screens starting next week as a host of a variety show filmed at Los Angeles nightclub Kress.
Called "Dogg After Dark," the weekly show will include interviews with celebrities, showcase comedy skits and musical performances, and will air for seven weeks every Tuesday night.
“As the world of entertainment keeps changing, we felt it was the right time to let Snoop Dogg back on MTV so we could continue to run thangs with music, movies, DVDs and bring hip-hop to 'Rock Band,'” Snoop said in a statement, adding, “Take a journey with me through the mind, body, soul and musical mind state of the most prolific, authentic game spitter. And tha sh-- is funny, so show me da money!”
The rapper’s upcoming record, a follow-up to last year’s “Ego Trippin,” features “seemingly unlikely musical guests” and tracks produced by Dr. Dre and Pharrell. Having his songs added to “Rock Band” marks the first time an overtly hip-hop artist has made the game’s rock-heavy track list. No further details seem to be available, such as track selection, pricing, or packs.
“A mainstay across MTV screens for over a decade,” MTV Networks Music/ Films/ Logo Groups President Van Toffler said Dogg is a huge part of the network’s history, “an undeniable international superstar” whose talent and work transcend music, TV and film, and he is looking forward to the new multidimensional partnership with him.
