Smashing Pumpkins Ready To Perform Again

After a seven-year break, one of the most influential rock band of the 1990’s, The Smashing Pumpkins, announced that they give nine concerts in Asheville and eight in San Francisco this summer.

Prior to their new album release, “Zeitgeist,” which will take place on July 10, the Billy Corgan-led band will visit the Orange Peel in Asheville on June 23-24, 26-27, 29-30 and July 2-3 and 5.

"They were looking for one West Coast venue and one East Coast venue," Liz Whalen of the Orange Peel told the Asheville Citizen-Times. She said the shows are the biggest event in the club's history and an entertainment milestone for the city in far western North Carolina.

The band will then take up a mini-residency at the famous Fillmore Auditorium in San Francisco, California from July 22nd through August 1st, 2007.

This band last time played at the Fillmore in April 1994, when they were invited to perform at the reopening of the historic venue.

According to information posted on the band's website, fans attending any of the shows are allowed to capture them with audio and video recorders.

As previously reported, the band promises to play old favorites, songs from the upcoming "Zeitgeist" album  and even "tunes written the day of the show," with the set list varying from night to night.
