Sling Media, the developer of the Slingbox platform, announced that five members of its executive board decided to leave, one year after the company had been acquired by EchoStar. The news has been first reported by the blog paidContent.org.
EchoStar bought Sling Media one year ago for $380 million. The company is known for its infrastructure of satellites that support the Dish Network DBS service.
Blake Kirkorian, CEO and co-founder at the company and his brother, Jason Kirkorian, Senior Vice President of Business Development at Sling Media were among the most notable figures that left the company. The other executive that decided to leave were President Jason Hirschhorn, Greg Wilkes, Vice President of Sales, and Ben White, Chief Creative Officer.
In an interview at paidContent.org, Blake Kirkorian explained the reasons of this move. He said that this decision was not easy to make, as it resembles “a breakup,” but nevertheless, he added that it was the right thing to do. The co-founder of Sling Media also told paidContent that he had offered EchoStar its services in managing the company.
Sling Media has become famous through its innovative Slingbox platform. Slingbox lets users to watch television content remotely by connecting a TV cable to their network connection. Through its proprietary network architecture and software program, Slingbox streams TV content on the internet to any other location.
