SlingPlayer For BlackBerry, SlingBox PRO-HD at 2008 CES

The 2008 CES held in Las Vegas Jan. 7 – Jan.10 will bring to the public eye a snick preview of the SlingPlayer Mobile software for BlackBerry, a highly expected demonstration by all the BlackBerry fans. The official release of the software will take place later this year.

Sling Media chose the BlackBerry Pearl 8120 – a smartphone with both 3G and Wi-Fi technology – for the demonstration, which will take place at Sling Media’s booth in the Sands Convention Center. Company representatives said the application will cost the same as for the rest of the mobile clients, US $29.99, and will be available in stores in later 2008. All versions will include a 30 day free trial.

Blake Krikorian, co-founder and CEO of Sling Media, said about the BlackBerry software development (Foxbusiness.com): “Sling Player Mobile for BlackBerry has been a top customer request since we launched the original SlingBox Classic in 2005, and being a BlackBerry addict myself I am particularly excited about this announcement.”

The award-winning software enables its customers to watch their home TV programs and all sorts of recorded content, which became highly addictive for users who travel a lot. Krikorian added: “Combining the best of breed email device with the ability to watch and control your living room TV is a killer combo.”

Sling Media also announced the SlingBox PRO-HD, which will be revealed at the CES this year. This is an upgraded version of the device that brings an incorporated ATSC/QAM digital tuner, allowing the picking up of HD broadcasts without any other devices necessary. The SlingBox PRO-HD will stream up to 1080i HD video content wireless. The price for the new and updated device will be of US $399.99.

Based in San Mateo, California, Sling Media is among the world leaders in digital lifestyle products. Among its best sold and award-winning products is SlingBox, which allows costumers to control their home TV anytime, anywhere, through a PC, Mac, PDA or smartphone. The SlingBox had its debut in July 2005, and has been a success ever since.
