The famous instant messaging application Skype has been
announced by Shape Services to become available also for the iPhone’s users.
The company has said that the ultimate smart phone’s users will be able to
access the Skype messaging and VoIP (Voice over IP) network through a new IM+
web application, which has been referred to as IM+ for Skype for iPhone and is available
at http://skypeforiphone.com.
Shape Services has said that the new web application is a
unique fully mobile application that has followed the release of similar
software products that were created for other mobile platforms such as the
already popular BlackBerry, Palm OS, Windows Mobile, Symbian and J2ME devices.
IM+ for Skype for iPhone will be working on any network and does not require
Wi-Fi specifically.
So thanks to the new Skype service that Shape Services has
created for Apple’s iPhone, the users will be able to use Skype’s popular
instant messaging chatting service, and to even call to regular phones if they
have upgraded to a SkypeOut account.
"Noticing the
public interest for Skype on iPhone, we decided to use our mobile IM and mobile
Skype experience and develop an application for them; this has also been a move
towards our IM+ for Skype platform coverage. It is truly easy and convenient to
access and use. We are looking forward to hearing some feedback from iPhone
users", said Igor Berezovsky, the company's CEO. "No tweaks are
necessary."
However, the new service announced by Shape Services is
still being in beta testing. When it is to be properly released, the iPhone’s
users will be charged for using with a small fee on SkypeOut rates.
