What’s so sweet about 16? Miley Cyrus can definitely answer
this question for us. Her folks closed down Disneyland
only to celebrate her birthday party, 5,000 fans took part in the teen event of
the year and she got a puppy. What more could a 16-year-old (oh, wait, she’s
still 15) wish for? A brand new car maybe, but perhaps she’ll get it when she
actually turns 16 and that’s more than one month away (November 23). Miley
Cyrus, however, seems to be pleased for the moment as she told reporters, “My
parents shut down Disneyland for me, so I’m
good for a while.” You should be, Ms. “Hannah Montana.” What teen gets to
benefit from all this fame and prosperity?
Kids rushed to catch a glimpse of their idol and made mommy
and daddy get $250 out of their pockets, as a ticket that leads the way to both
Miley Cyrus and Disneyland can’t possibly be
cheap.
Among the thousands of guests stepping on the no, not red,
but purple carpet (purple is Miley Cyrus’ favorite color) there were also
famous figures such as David Archuleta, Jennie Garth, Steve Carell, Cindy
Crawford, Tyra Banks, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Vanessa Williams, Heather Locklear,
as well as Demi Lovato, accompanied by friends or families.
The pop star wore a couture gown from Elie Saab’s brand new
spring/summer collection, but subsequently changed into a more comfy outfit so
as to perform for the fans who were present at her oversized birthday bash. Her
dad, Billy Ray Cyrus, opened the concert by singing several of his best known
hits, such as the 1992 country song “Achy Breaky Heart,” while Miley rocked the
Disney stage with some of her most famous songs (among teenagers at least). The
popular teen actress and singer told everybody that the Disney party was “the
most amazing sweet 16 that a girl could have.” After a bit of “Breakout” and
“G.N.O.,” the crowd wished the “Hannah Montana” star a very happy birthday,
while 16 giant inflatable candles took great care of the atmosphere before a
fireworks display above the Sleeping
Beauty Castle
lighted the sky.
During the party, several popular attractions like Big Thunder Mountain and Pirates of the Caribbean
were available to attendees, who were also able to go for a “Hannah Montana”
makeover or an “Ultimate Band” play.
Miley Cyrus told PEOPLE that the gift she enjoyed the most
was evidently the puppy she got from her parents. She told the same source that
she was very excited about the little one, who she named Sophie, after a dog
owned by her late grandfather.
We sure hope Sophie loved the show (okay, birthday party)
that represented a must-attend shindig for the pop icon’s admirers. Moreover,
the doggie did not even have to buy a ticket and benefits from the overwhelming
privilege to be the pet of the most popular and famous teenager in the world.
Miley Cyrus is definitely going to become the next Britney, Christina or
Lindsay.
