Site Suspended After Promoting Dutch Lawmaker’s Anti-Qur’an Movie

The controversy that surrounds anti-Islam Dutch lawmaker continues, as he has been desperately trying to promote his upcoming film that is said to highly criticize Qur’an, Muslims’ holy book. First it was YouTube, after Pakistani authorities blocked the access to the Website because of a trailer to the movie, and now the Website that was supposed to promote his movie has been suspended due to numerous complaints received regarding the content of the film.

Network Solutions, the company that hosts the Website (http://www.fitnathemovie.com/) posted the following announcement: “This site has been suspended while network Solutions is investigating whether the site’s content is in violation of the Network Solutions Acceptable Use Policy. Network Solutions has received a number of complaints regarding this site that are under investigation.”

The company stated that the site can be accessed and changed, but it is simply not available to the public right now, until the investigation is completed. “In this situation with the dialogue that’s happening throughout the world we’ve made the choice to suspend the site as of last night,” Susan Wade, spokeswoman for Network Solutions, said, according to AP. “This site is suspended so people can’t see the content right now…”

The Dutch film-maker is still planning on releasing his 15-minute movie by the end of the month, despite the fact that the one Website that has agreed to promote the anti-Islamic film has been temporarily shut down. The movie is entitled “Fitna” and nobody really knows any details on it, except maybe for the Dutch film-maker’s view of the Qur’an as being fascist.

Dutch authorities refused to support him and his views, due to a reaction that could turn against them just like in the Danish newspaper’s cartoons featuring Prophet Muhammad case. Geert Wilders, the author of the film, is very much aware of the impact his views have and continue to cause in the Muslim world, and so he is under permanent protection.
