Actor Jeremy Sisto, 33, is one of the new faces for the 18th
season of “Law & Order.”
When he saw himself in the opening scene in a courthouse
with his cast mates he thought “What's HE doing there?!”
Sisto played the roles of Jesus and Julius Caesar and was
cast in "Waitress," Keri Russell's husband.
He also starred in the short drama “Kidnapped” and in the
HBO series “Six Feet Under” where he played Billy Chenowith, a photographer and
manic-depressive.
Now it’s time for him to step us as Detective Cyrus Lupo in
the new season from “Law & Order.”
Lupo will be the new partner to Detective Ed Green (Jesse L.
Martin), who will return to New York
after four years of working undercover abroad. The reason for his returning is
the mysterious death of his brother. He will not be allowed to work at the
case, but he will do it along with Green.
Linus Roache is another actor who will join the series this
season. He will play Chief Assistant District Attorney Michael Cutter, who will
fill in for Jack McCoy (Sam Waterston).
Last spring Fred Thompson who played District Attorney
Arthur Branch for five seasons exited the show, CNN.com reports.
Last May the “Law & Order” almost got canceled due to
rating drops but now it’s back with 12 new episodes.
The problem with the show started in 2001 when Elisabeth
Rohm and then Fred Thompson were cast and the show had actors who were not able
to do their jobs they were assigned, USAToday.com reports.
Sisto’s character, Lupo, is a quiet one and you can say that
it has an understated personality.
Sito says about this role that is of a different kind.
“They want two partners who can play off each other well and
are fun to watch, but depth of character is not necessary in this job. Too much
character gets in the way of the story. This is a very specific gig,” he says.
Sisto got his first role at 16 in the drama “Gradn
Canyon” where he played the role of
Kevin Kline and Mary McDonnell’s son.
"That got me a foot in, to come out and have a life in L.A.
in this business," he says. "It could very easily not have happened
for me. To be an actor takes a lot of courage, but the way I did it takes less
courage. I was very lucky."
