The British Monarchy announced the re-launch of its website, which will be marked by a reception at the Buckingham Palace, where of course The Queen will also be present. British officials have announced that Sir Tim Berners-Lee, the father of the World Wide Web, will also be attending the reception.
According to the official press release, The Queen will re-launch the British Monarchy website, and will also unveil a surprise feature of the website.
The new website now has a more user-friendly interface, and has been revamped with a series of brand new features, including Google maps integration with the Royal Diary of Engagements, integration with the Royal Channel on YouTube, a password protected Media Centre, a Personnel module to allow job applicants to apply online, and a new search function.
In addition to that, the website also includes a wider variety of content, including videos, and information on the Commonwealth Realms, as well as a section on Royal animals, the official presentation reveals.
The BBC and British Film Institute have contributed with video and audio footage. The website now also features the original recording of The Queen’s first public speech on 13th October, 1940, as well as the original recording of The Queen’s speech on her 21st birthday.
The website also includes scanned documents connected to the Royal Family, such as the copy of the letter sent by King George V to Winston Churchill, or Queen Victoria’s journal fragment, where she describes trying out Graham Bell’s invention, the telephone.
