Sir Paul McCartney got the top billing at the 10th annual Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. The ex-Beatle will headline the first day of the music festival which takes place from April 17 to April 19 in Indio, California.
The British pop demigod will share the top billing with the stars of the current generation such as Amy Winehouse, The Killers, The Cure, Morrissey, Franz Ferdinand, My Bloody Valentine, Leonard Cohen and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
"I have heard that Coachella is one of the greatest festivals in the world. I'm really excited to get out there and rock!" said Sir McCartney, who will be making his maiden American festival appearance.
Provided she makes it until April, Amy Winehouse would make her first major appearance in the United States since the 2008 Grammy Awards.The singer has had problems with drugs and an erratic behavior during the past one year and a half.
Leonard Cohen’s performance at Coachella will be just a short stop in his first North American tour in 15 years which will kick off February 19 with a New York concert.
The indie rock community will be represented at the Coachella festival by singers such as Fleet Foxes, Conor Oberst, the Black Keys, the Hold Steady, Superchunk, Dr. Dog, TV On The Radio, Okkervil River and Band Of Horses; while the world of dance and electric music will send bands and singers like MSTRKRFT, Girl Talk, Thievery Corporation, the Crystal Method, Throbbing Gristle, Groove Armada and Roni Size.
