Sir Elton John To Perform On New Year’s Eve

Sir Elton John is one of the most famous English singers, composers and pianists. Staying true to the pop-rock genre, he was one of the most influential musical forces of the 1970s. So far, he has sold well over 200 million records. This whopping number makes him, undoubtedly, one of the most successful artists in the world.

As homage to his achievements so far, the singer was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame back in 1994. He was knighted in 1998, and has been actively involved the fight against AIDS.

The famous “Billboard” magazine released “Hot 100” list in 2008, ranking 100 top artists. Sir Elton John was ranked 3rd, while Madonna was 2nd and The Beatles were – of course – ranked 1st.

He entered civil partnership with David Furnish in 2005, in December. The ceremony was hosted in Windsor, at the famous Guildhall. After the private ceremony, a sumptuous party was held at their Berkshire mansion. Sources claim that the party cost around £1 million. An actual traffic jam was formed outside the newly-weds’ home, as their famous guests were trying to get in.

Sir Elton John is an example of being “forever young.” His age has never hindered him from performing, be it an odd concert or a full-fledged tour. For instance, Sir Elton John has announced that he will be performing this New Year’s Eve at the O2 arena in London. The singer said that he can’t wait “to spend New Year’s Eve with 17,000 of my biggest fans.”

Moreover, he announced that next year he will be touring with another famous singer, Billy Joel. Apparently, the tour will commence in March and with the exception of a couple of pauses, it will last for two whole years. Billy Joel and Sir Elton John have been on tour before, in 1994 and 2003.
