Singer Mindy McCready In Hospital After Suicide Attempt

Country singer Mindy McCready is in a stable condition after her suicide attempt, Centennial Medical Center spokeswoman Jenny Barker said Thursday. The Nashville police said that her brother found the singer on Wednesday.  Apparently, she cut her wrists and took several pills.

Mindy McCready was especially popular in the 1990s and even scored a No. 1 hit in 1996 with the single “Guys Do It All the Time.”
In 2004, she was convicted for fraudulently obtaining prescription painkillers. She was on probation for that offense when she was charged with driving under the influence in 2005.

In October, the 33-year-old was released from jail in Tennessee after serving about 30 days for violating probation on a 2004 drug charge. She only had to serve about half of her 60-day sentence because of credits she received for good behavior and doing janitorial work in the jail, the Williamson County Sheriff's Department said.

In April, she admitted she had a long-term relationship with Yankee star pitcher Roger Clemens but this came in no happy context, as she was pulled into the athlete’s federal perjury investigation.
Mindy McCready said she broke off with Roger Clemens because the New York Yankees baseball player wouldn’t marry her. She gave details about the state of her relationship with Clemens in an interview broadcast last night by the syndicated show “Inside Edition.”

"Carrying on a relationship with him is not something I'm proud of," the country singer told "Inside Edition." She added that her affair with the baseball player, who is married, was one of her biggest mistakes.

She also said that Clemens was one of the “most wonderful men I've ever known” and that he treated her like a princess, according to the transcript released by the show. Clemens’ attorney, Rusty Hardin, denied the fact that his client had a relationship with McCready. "I repeat again that it is simply not true. That is all I intend to say about the matter," was Clemens’ statement about this matter.

She had been in an abusive relationship with Billy McKnight, father of her 2-year-old son Zander.
