Sierra Entertainment is aiming to regain its former glory as a top-notch publisher like it once was, and getting WET is one way to achieve that goal.
With upcoming franchises like TimeShift, Prototype and World in Conflict in its back yard, and with FEAR Files and Alien vs. Predator for PSP coming this fall, Sierra is certainly on the right track to reach gamers’ hearts again, after the long and painful dispute with Valve over the Half Life sequels.
However, that’s not all that Sierra has up its sleeve for us: during this year’s Leipzig Games Convention, Sierra unveiled a new IP, simply called Wet, which is currently in the works at the Montreal-Canada studio A2M.
In search for a new feminine character that should shift gamers’ attention from Lara’s British accent, formidable kill-skills and impressive breasts, Sierra came up with Rubi, a heavily tattooed mercenary whose sword-fighting prowess is only matched by her acrobatic agility and gun-fighting technique.
Rubi is contracted by a wealthy man to find his wayward son- and finds herself betrayed and on the run, crossing continents in search of the man who double-crossed her.
The game, described as "Kill Bill meets Tomb Raider meets Prince of Persia" is slated for a 2008 debut and it will…wet both PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360.
"The mix of guns, acrobatics and swords in the midst of non-stop action will undoubtedly ensure Rubi takes the title as the most exciting heroine ever in video games," said Martin Tremblay, president, Worldwide Studios, Sierra Entertainment. "WET is an exciting addition to Sierra Entertainment's original games portfolio."
