There are three sides to a story: the police’s side, the
delinquent’s side and the truth. We know that, Saturday morning, Shreveport police
arrested Josh Brolin, 40, Jeffrey Wright, 42, and 29-year-old Eric Felland, a
lighting technician, along with other crew members from the movie “W.”
According to E! Online, authorities informed that Josh
Brolin and Jeffrey Wright interfered with police officers who had come at the
bar because they were called there by a patron. The crew members of “W” were
taken into custody and were charged with intervening in a police mission.
Now, according to the New York Daily News, a witness says
that police got rough when they handled the arrest of the actors. Apparently, ten
police officers who arrived at the scene “got aggressive” with the actors and the
other crew members. Moreover, they also used a pepper spray “blinding one of
the group.” The same witness said that a patron insulted Wright, who plays U.S. politician
Colin Powell in the movie, referring to his race.
On the other hand, Police Corporal Robert Elliott said that police
officers were free to use “whatever force” if they thought it necessary.
“We are not at liberty to discuss the specifics of the
incident. But officers will use whatever force they feel is necessary to effect
a safe arrest,” said Robert Elliott, according to the New York Daily News.
He also said that officers were called there and they “escorted
Mr. Wright and Eric Felland out of the bar,” adding that Josh Brolin and other
members of the crew “came out and interfered with that arrest.”
After he was taken into custody, Brolin gave police his
driver’s license, a cell phone, a belt, a lighter and other objects. He
was released from jail after posting a $334 cash bond and recovered his
belongings.
“W,” Oliver Stone’s third presidential movie, comes after
“Nixon” and “JFK.” Josh Brolin plays President Bush, Elizabeth Banks
plays Laura Bush and actress Thandie Newton plays Secretary of State
Condoleezza Rice.
