Shia LaBeouf is no longer a child should there have still
been doubts, as proven by his DUI arrest in Hollywood this weekend, which included a
multi-vehicle accident and surgery on his left hand.
“Transformers” star Shia LaBeouf was charged with DUI after
being involved in a multi-vehicle accident in Hollywood early Sunday morning. The
22-year-old actor was somewhat hurt in the accident, unlike the female
passenger in his car and the driver of the other vehicle.
LaBeouf’s rep said in a statement Sunday evening that the
young actor was recovering from “extensive hand surgery,” reports People.com.
LaBeouf was treated at Cedars-Sinai
Medical Center.
Other than confirming the accident had taken place and
reporting on his injuries, spokesperson Melissa Kates also said Shia LaBeouf
was planning to return on the set of “Transformers 2” within one month.
“No further comment will be issued at this time,” the
statement concluded.
Los Angeles County Sheriff's Sgt. Scott Wolf told the
Associated Press that Shia LaBeouf was driving a pickup and when attempting to
make a left turn at a West Hollywood
intersection, his car collided with the other vehicle and rolled over. The
accident occurred at about 3 a.m.
LaBeouf sustained minor injuries to his head and a knee,
besides hurting his left hand, according to police.
Shia LaBeouf was charged with misdemeanor DUI and released.
This is not the actor’s first brush-in with the law. Last
November, he famously entered a Chicago
drugstore and refused to leave when the guard asked him to.
Although inebriated, LaBeouf was “very courteous and
polite,” arresting police officers said at the time. He was charged with
criminal trespassing. The charge was later dropped, as the store did not wish
to pursue the matter.
In February, Shia LaBeouf was cited for smoking in an
inappropriate place in Burbank.
The judge later dismissed the charge.
Shia LaBeouf proved his stellar Hollywood
reputation earlier this summer when “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal
Skull” opened to positive critical reviews and box office glory.
