Shia LaBeouf may not recover very soon from the accident
that crushed his hand, LaBeouf attorney Michael Norris announced in a
statement. Furthermore, he said that LaBeouf had experienced a four-hour
surgery and that his left arm was immobilized. Although his doctors are
confident that LaBeouf will fully recover, the actor remains under medical
supervision until he is allowed to return to work, according to the same
source.
Shia LaBeouf, aged 22, was wounded in a late at night crash
that took place last Sunday in West Hollywood. The
“Indiana Jones” star was cited for driving under the influence of alcohol, but
authorities now claim the accident that flipped his truck was not caused by the
actor, and that the other driver apparently ran a red light, as reported by the
Associated Press.
LaBeouf has been involved lately in filming the
“Transformers” sequel, “Revenge of the Fallen.” Director
Michael Bay
informed reporters that the injury may be inserted in the script. He told
“Access Hollywood” in an interview broadcast on Friday that “his two fingers
are pretty smashed, but we’re figuring out a way to shoot around it, kind of
write it into the story.”
Isabel Lucas, a 23-year-old Australian actress who is also
filming for the “Transformers” sequel, was the passenger of LaBeouf’s vehicle
at the time of the accident, but she suffered no injuries. However, officials
reported that the other driver’s identity would not be disclosed until the
official investigation was completed and a report was published.
Shia LaBeouf can next be seen in the thriller “Eagle Eye,”
due to be released next month.
