Sheryl Crow wants to convince young American fans to be more involved in their country’s issues and to vote. The artist said she plans to reward those who do.
The Grammy Award-winning singer will provide a free download of “Gasoline” – her latest politic-packed song – to every visitor of Rockthevote.com. All in all, everyone who is in the group’s mailing list will get the song for free.
Sheryl Crow’s offer doesn’t stop here. She said she will give a free digital copy of her album "Detours" to the first 50,000 people who register three friends to vote. The singer said that her album “Detours” is a perfect fit for the cause Rock the Vote fights for.
"I hope people wake up and emotionally engage in issues," Crow said in an interview with The Associate Press news agency.
The 46-year-old singer said that she has been involved with Rock the Vote since the project was initiated and she is very proud to help them convince Americans that they must get involved politically because the U.S. is facing critical issues “from high gas prices to climate change.”
The nonprofit political advocacy group Rock the Vote was founded in 1990 and struggles to get the young Americans more involved in the country’s political problems. Collaborations with super stars like Madonna, Leonardo DiCaprio and Christina Aquilera made the group more popular among youngsters.
