William Shatner, the notorious actor well known for playing captain James Tiberius Kirk in the sci-fi TV series Star Trek, has released a clip on YouTube in which he says he feels badly for not being invited to George Takei’s wedding. Shatner says that he can’t explain to himself Takei’s gesture and that this action can only be justified by some sort of “sickness" or "psychosis” which the actor who played Mr. Sulu has. Shatner’s video clips are largely adored by Star Trek fans who, besides their love for the series, also seem to feed on all sort of gossip and this new statement from Shatner is sure to stir up spirits.
William Shatner is a winner of two Emmy awards, a Golden Globe and Saturn Award winner for best actor and the image of USS Enterprise’s captain is people usually associate him with. Star Trek is a major part of the actor’s life as he starred in the televised series from 1966 to 1969, provided the voice for his character in the animated series and starred in seven movies based on the sci-fi TV show. Star Trek is not only a TV show that was very popular but it is also something to be remembered as very innovative and fascinating. Shatener wrote about what he experienced while on the set of Star Trek and what was like to play Captain James Tiberius Kirk in the well known series.
The fact that tension between the actors that played the famous characters is showing up and even promoted can’t do a lot of good for what Star Trek is supposed to stand for.
