The custody feud between Sharon Stone and former husband
Phil Bronstein over son Roan is no pretty story and the most recent chapter to
be added is in no way whatsoever flattering to the “Basic Instinct” actress.
The marriage between seductive Hollywood
actress Sharon Stone and charismatic newspaper executive Phil Bronstein in 1998
seemed a match made in heaven. Alas, like many a love story before in
Tinseltown, it did not stand the test of time and the two divorced in 2004.
The divorce was not without complications, as they had
adopted a boy, who is now 8, and a custody battle ensued.
The situation was somewhat peaceful a year ago, as Stone and
Bronstein shared legal and physical custody of their son, according to court papers
dating from Oct. 2007.
Court documents dating from Sept. 12 are far sadder though
and a tentative ruling released Monday, Sept. 29, obtained by E! News, offers
further details. In late September, it was reported in the media that Sharon
Stone had lost physical custody of her son to her former husband, as a San Francisco court ruled
that Phil Bronstein “shall have permanent sole physical custody of child.”
The judge ruled that Bronstein’s home was more stable and
structured and thus better suited for Roan. Bronstein and now Roan reside in San Francisco, while Stone and her two other boys live in Los Angeles. The actress
adopted sons Laird, 4, and Quinn, 2, in 2005 and 2006, respectively.
Monday’s tentative ruling emphasized the need for Roan to
live with his father, as a move to Los
Angeles, as requested by Stone, would entail an
“overwhelming sense of loss” for the child.
As things currently stand, the little boy can visit his
mother one or two weekends a month during the school year.
The judge was critical towards Stone’s parenting, saying she
was over reactive in situations such as recommending Roan get Botox injections
for foot odor.
