Phoenix Suns' center Shaquille O’Neal said that his freestyle rap done in a New York nightspot during the past weekend was just for fun and it did not mean what he said about Kobe Bryant, his former team mate at the Los Angeles Lakers.
“You know how I be/
Last week Kobe couldn't do without me,” rapped Shaquille in New York referring to the NBA Finals which Kobe and the Lakers lost in Game 6 against the Boston Celtics.
Shaq and Kobe won championships as teammates in L.A. but have quarreled during the past couple of years.
However, Shaquille was in the zone and didn’t stop there with his freestyle rap. The lyrics of the 4-times NBA champion got a little bit tougher and he blamed Kobe for his divorce.
"I'm a horse, Kobe ratted me out, that's why I'm getting divorced," said Shaq while holding the mike at the Village Underground in NYC. The 7.2 feet dominant center referred to
Kobe’s 2003 comments: “Shaq would pay his women not to say anything.”
Kobe was involved in a controversial lawsuit in 2003 in which he was accused of rape.
In a Monday evening interview on ESPN, Shaq said the things he said in New York were “all done in fun.”
"I'm totally cool with Kobe. No issue at all. Please tell everybody don't make something out of nothing," the NBA multiple champ added.
