Despite the popularity Shannon Elizabeth and her partner Derek
Hough had gained lately, the sensitive 34-year-old actress, who cried last week
due to the judges’ harsh comments, was eliminated from the show.
"The show has been amazing. I've learned a lot,"
she said, following the elimination. "I've made a friend for life, and
hopefully a bunch of friends for life, and I'll be here to support everyone as
much as I can."
Derek also confessed it was great having Elizabeth as a
partner.
“She’s been great, definitely kept me entertained throughout
the whole competition,” he said.
The two gained 51 out of 60 points for their dances Monday.
While the judges loved their tango, considering it Elizabeth’s best dance, they
disapproved of the couple’s mambo, describing Elizabeth as “gawky” and “awkward.”
Chilean actor Cristian de la Fuente also lost points Monday,
after what seemed a muscular cramp caused him to drop his partner Cheryl Burke
to the floor during their samba performance.
On Tuesday, after being consulted by a specialist, De la
Fuente reported the pain had been caused by more than a cramp. He apparently
has a ruptured tendon and needs surgery to repair. Still, he said he would
postpone the operation and continue dancing on the show if the viewers want
that.
"If people voted for us and they would like us to be on
the show, I would like to continue and not give up," he said.
All judges praised De la Fuente for struggling to finish the
dance in spite of the pain, and said they would only judge the dance's first
part, before the incident occurred. The actor was carried away on a
stretcher after the Monday show and taken to the hospital, accompanied by his
wife.
