Canadian country singer and songwriter Shania Twain reportedly considered the woman who was the main cause of her divorce from husband Robert "Mutt" Lange, one of her best friends, according to sources close to the ex couple. Well, with friends like that, the singer surely doesn’t need enemies.
The woman, who split the 14-year marriage between the Grammy Award-winning singer from her husband, is 37-year-old Marie-Anne Thiebaud. She has been working as a secretary at the couple’s mansion in Switzerland.
Shania Twain and Robert Lange, who tied the knot in 1993, have a 6-year-old son, Eja D'Angelo.
According to the source, both Lange and Thiebaud left their spouses to be together and their relationship is still working.
"Their two families would vacation and spend holidays together. Shania considered Marie-Anne one of her best friends," the source added according to The New York Daily News.
The source also said that Shania Twain is "devastated." She confirmed the break up last week.
Even though all the media sources blame Lange’s affair for the divorce, he insists that was not the main reason.
“[The affair was] absolutely not the reason. It's literally just growing apart, that's all," said Lange.
Lange also didn’t acknowledge that he had an intimate relationship with Thiebaud, People reported.
Shania Twain – real name Eilleen Regina Edwards - is best known for her hits "Man! I Feel Like A Woman!" and "You're Still the One." Her now ex husband produced three of her albums: 1995's "The Woman in Me," 1997's "Come on Over" and 2002's "Up!"
