Author Candace Bushnell just won’t move past Carrie
Bradshaw, the character that made her famous all over the world. She is
reportedly writing a young adult novel about Carrie’s youth. Oh, come on!
The sex columnist who is desperately trying to find love is
a great character and now a role model for millions of women all over the
world, especially for those who try to make it big in the Big Apple. But enough
is enough!
After six years of “Sex And the City” and a very
disappointing movie, that showed it’s better to stop while you’re on top and
not make an embarrassing pointless spinoff that is barely coherent and
completely lacks substance, who in the world wants to go back to Carrie’s
troubled teenage years? Especially considering that, in the series, every time
Carrie is mentioning her past, she gets all shivery, like she wants to shake
the memory off. Also, occasional hints tell us that her youth wasn’t the best
time of her life, but a period of reckless non stop party and one bad relationship
after the other.
I thought the whole point of the series and, well, the
movie, was to find a husband for little Miss Bradshaw, or at least true love.
We only watched it for so long, because it gave hope to all the women in the
world and we always figured Mr. Right is right around the corner. It took her
and her three friends Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda more than 40 years to
reach true happiness, so why would we go back in time to a point where teenage
angst and stupid high school clichés rule?
Let’s just call it what it is. A guaranteed recipe for
success. We’ll just take a story of a young girl living in the suburbs and
hanging out in New York
on weekends, but just to make sure it becomes a best-seller, let’s name this
girl Carrie. Carrie Bradshaw. And poof! Here you go! The next big thing after
Harry Potter.
