Seniors Urged To Enroll In Next Year’s Drug Plan

The period for enrollment into next year’s Medicare drug plan started yesterday and people are urged to sign up until December 31st. Medicare advocates urge senior citizens to review their drug plan to see if all their medication is covered and if the price is in proportion with the benefits.

It is advised that everybody should review their drug plan for the following year, even if one is happy with their current plan. People at the Medicare Rights Center say that this is because drug plans change from year to year and customers should remain informed of what the costs and benefits of the plan they are using are.

People who are 65 or older can sign up for federal drug benefits by the end of this year. Medicare advises everybody to carefully analyze all the possible options in order to make a decision about their drug plan.

People are advised to make a list of the medication they are taking and in what doses those drugs are needed and compare their list with the available drug coverage. Also, people should mention what pharmacies they buy from most often in order to see if those certain stores are available in the plan they will choose.

People who don’t really understand or have problems deciding or choosing a drug plan are advised to talk with one of the counselors appointed especially for this task. Drug plans are very important and as these plans change from year to year, it is crucial for people to make an informed and logical decision.
