The Guild announced the name of the new partners that will
support the season 2 of the online show: Microsoft and Sprint. The 12-episode
series will be distributed via Xbox Live Marketplace, and will be sponsored by the
mobile carrier.
This is obviously an upgrade from the first season, when the
show struggled to find funding and survived mostly on donations. Season 2
however will not only mean additional funding, but also a faster production
rate.
In the first season, the show was only able to produce
one episode a month, and as the show producers admitted, “it’s been tough to
keep the cameras rolling.”
But Xbox’s offer came at the right time, just as they began
filming the Season 2 on DVD proceeds and the money of Felicia Day, who wrote
the script for the show. Xbox Live Marketplace “proved to be the perfect fit.”
As Felicia Day pointed out, “they will be helping us reach
out to new audience, as well as allowing the show, through the Microsoft
network, to be seen by anyone across the globe who wants to: Still for free!”
The Guilt is an online sitcom that has managed to gain a
significant audience since the first episode came out in July 2007. The series
follows the story of Codex (played by Felicia Day), and a group of other people
with one common passion: online games.
Season 2 episodes will be available every week as of today
for free in HD quality on the Xbox Live Marketplace. Episodes will also be
streaming on MSN Video, with subtitles in 8 different languages, and will also
be available for download in the Zune marketplace.
