Sean Penn and Robin Wright Put Divorce on Hold

Actors Sean Penn and Robin Wright Penn have put their divorce proceedings on hold, according to court papers.

Extra was first to reveal that the two artists, who have been married since 1996, appear to have changed their mind regarding their divorce. In a one-page document filed Tuesday in Marin County Superior Court, the clerk dismissed the couple’s divorce petition, at their request.

Penn, 47, and Wright Penn, 42, filed divorce papers in December. They had been together several years before wedding in 1996. They are parents to son Hopper Jack, 14, and Dylan Frances, 17.

Their marriage long appeared to transcend the general ephemerality of Hollywood romances so news of their filing divorce papers last winter came unexpectedly.

The Academy Award-winning Penn initially filed for divorce from his wife in early December in Marin County Superior Court. Wright Penn filed her own paperwork a few days later. Their first hearing was scheduled for April 21, reports People.com.

Penn further fueled reports that he and his estranged wife have reconciled when the two attended an Eddie Vedder concert in San Francisco Tuesday night. The couple was celebrating Wright Penn’s 42nd birthday and the actor took to the stage at one point and dedicated a song to his wife, reports the San Francisco Chronicle.

Wife and husband have appeared together in movies, such as 1997’s “She’s So Lovely,” directed by Nick Cassavetes and 1998’s “Hurlyburly,” directed by David Rabe.

Penn next appears in the Harvey Milk biopic directed by Gus Van Sant for Focus Features. Penn will portray gay rights activist Harvey Milk, who became the first openly gay politician in 1970s San Francisco.

Wright Penn next appears in “State of Play,” a political thriller directed by Kevin Macdonald, starring Russell Crowe, Ben Affleck, Helen Mirren and Rachel McAdams.
