Seagate announced today its new FreeAgent external hard
drives. They will be available for both desktop and laptops in two pre-formatted
versions for Mac and PC file systems.
FreeAgent Go, developed for the laptop models, will be
available in silver, red, black and blue for PC users and silver for Mac users.
These new external hard drives measure 0.49-inch x 3.15-inch x 5.12- inch (PC
version) and 0.69-ich x 3.15-inch x 5.40-inch (Mac version). The storage
capacities are up to 500 Giga Bytes, providing sufficient space for saving
significant amounts of data.
The FreeAgent drives will be available starting with October
and the suggested prices range from $160 to $350 for laptops and from $160 to
$300 for desktops. The FreeAgent Go Drive for Mac will be available for $159.99
with a capacity of 250GB and $189.99 for the 320GB version. The FreeAgent Go
Drive will retail for $119.99 for 250GB, $149.99 for 320GB, and $239.99 for
500GB. Such external storage products represent a must-have for all
users interested in making sure that their photos, documents and other content are
secured from any sort of incident.
"The first FreeAgent storage solution offering
introduced in 2007 unquestionably made a mark for Seagate in the consumer
space, demonstrating that hard drives can be designed to provide a stylish
complement to a computing environment," said Pat King, senior vice
president of Seagate's Consumer Solutions Division. He also added that the new
generation takes the storage solutions to the next level by offering access to
an easy-to-use technology put together in a consumer-friendly package.
