Scarlett Johansson's Debut Album Out in May

Scarlett Johansson’s “Anywhere I Lay My Head” debut album is set for a May 10 release, Billboard.com reports.

Actress Scarlett Johansson's collection of Tom Waits covers, titled “Anywhere I Lay My Head,” will be released May 20 via Rhino Entertainment's Atco imprint. The 23-year-old Johansson collaborated on the album with Yeah Yeah Yeahs guitarist Nick Zinner, Celebration's Sean Antanaitis and TV On The Radio's Dave Sitek, who produced.

According to Billboard.com, the track list presents 10 Waits covers and one original track, but full details have yet to be announced.

The actress turned singer recorded the album over five weeks last spring at Dockside Studios in Maurice, Louisiana.

Johansson has used her pleasant throaty voice before to perform The Pretenders’ “Brass In Pocket” in 2003’s “Lost In Translation,” and made a surprise appearance last year at the Coachella Music Festival when she sang with a reunited Jesus and Mary Chain on stage.

The young actress next appears on the big screen in “The Other Boleyn Girl,” alongside Natalie Portman and Eric Bana; “Vicky Cristina Barcelona,” directed by Woody Allen and costarring Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem; and “He's Just Not That Into You,” with an ensemble cast which includes Drew Barrymore, Jennifer Aniston, Justin Long, Ben Affleck, Jennifer Connelly and Ginnifer Goodwin.

Johansson is also set to try her hand at directing, with “New York, I Love You.” The 23-year-old, a New York native, is one of 12 directors who will each create five-minute love stories set in various parts of the Big Apple, her rep confirmed to People magazine earlier this month. Other directors confirmed to participate in the project are Zach Braff (“Garden State”) and Mira Nair (previously attached to the Johnny Depp project “Shantaram”).
