Although Scarlett Johansson has already starred in three
Woody Allen productions in the past three years, the actress rejects any rumors
that she would be the renowned director’s most recent muse, as reported by AFP.
After impersonating American Actress Nola Rice in 2005’s
“Match Point” and journalist Sondra Pransky in 2006’s “Scoop”, Scarlett
Johansson joined forces again with the Academy Award-winning director to work
on the heavily-discussed comedy “Vicky Cristina Barcelona,” due to be released
in theaters on Friday.
However, according to the same source, the 23-year-old
artist says she is not filling Mia Farrow and Diane Keaton’s shoes, two well-known
actresses who starred constantly in Woody Allen’s movies during the 1970s and
even the early 1990s.
“I’m not his muse,” Johansson informed reporters at a press
event in Beverly Hills,
as quoted by AFP. “Every single junket that we’ve done so far, we always get
the muse thing and we always say no, it’s not that way,” she added.
Furthermore, she said that working with Woody Allen is like
working with a friend, as they enjoy collaborating and “entertain each other.”
On the other hand, the famous director said that he
fortuitously cast Johansson in his 2005 production, as Kate Winslet pulled out
in the last moment. He also said that he did not know her, but when they
started working together, he became fascinated by the actress, as she could do
just anything. “She was not only beautiful but also bright, charming, and
gifted,” Allen said, as cited by AFP.
“Vicky Cristina Barcelona,” the upcoming Woody Allen
production, has already received rave reviews and is said to be the director’s
best movie in years. Of course that all the attention was drawn by the love
scenes between Scarlett Johansson and fellow actress superstar Penelope Cruz.
It would have been hard not to.
“Everybody wants to know what it was like,”
Johansson said in an interview with Parade.com. “Penelope had less facial hair
than a guy so it was certainly more pleasant. It was better than kissing Jonathan Rhys-Meyers
in “Match Point.” Kissing him
wasn’t that bad, but he did have to stop and shave in the middle of a scene
even though he’d shaved that morning. The man has really got some beard on
him,” the actress said, as quoted by OK! Magazine.
