The 18-year-old unwed daughter of former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin has welcomed a baby boy, a magazine reported on Monday.
Bristol Palin gave birth to her son, Tripp Easton Mitchell Johnston, on Saturday, according to People.com. The little one weighed 7 pounds, 4 ounces, and Colleen Jones, the sister of the fresh mommy’s grandmother, informed the magazine that Tripp was “fine” and that his mother was in good condition as well.
Sarah Palin’s office would not disclose information on a matter that it called private.
The father of Bristol Palin’s son is apprentice electrician Levi Johnston, an ex hockey player at Alaska’s Wasilla High School. He has been dating the daughter of the former vice presidential candidate for three years.
Sarah Palin made her daughter’s pegnancy public on September 1, the same day the Republican National Convention began. The governor’s campaign released a statement explaining that Bristol Palin and “the young man” would tie the knot.
Levi Johnston’s mother was the one to announce that her 18-year-old son was the father of Bristol Palin’s baby and, after less than a week, the young man made an appearance at the convention in St. Paul, Minn., where Sarah Palin delivered her acceptance speech.
Levi Johnston told the Associated Press a couple of months ago that he and Bristol Palin had planned to get married even before they found out about her pregnancy.
Sarah Palin and her husband, Todd, are parents to five children: 7-month-old Trig, 7-year-old Piper, 14-year-old Willow, 18-year-old Bristol and 19-year-old Track.
